29 Do not let any
unwholesome talk
come out of your

what is helpful for
building others up
according to their
needs, that it may
benefit those who listen.
30 And do not grieve
the Holy Spirit of God,
with whom you were
sealed for the day of
31 Get rid of all
bitterness, rage
and anger,
brawling and slander,
along with every
form of malice.

Promise Greco

Peggy Gonzales

Promise Greco currently serves as one Christ Centered Retreats teachers and board members. She's a complete word nerd -- who obsesses over definition, origin, connotation, denotation, and Hebrew and Greek translations. She's passionate about uncovering the stories and symbols throughout Scripture that all lead and point to Jesus, the Messiah.

When her nose isn't stuck in a book, you can find her enjoying life's many adventures with her family.

Peggy worked for San Antonio ISD for 20 years as an elementary coach, health, physical education and fourth grade teacher. Currently, she works full time as a Living Science technician at Education Service Center, Region 20 in San Antonio. This pre-retirement job allows her the time and energy to pursue passions and interests outside the workplace. Peggy’s passions are family, worship, Bible study and music. Her family consists of husband Joe, children Aaron and Ruby and spouses, step-children Lisa and Donna, and five grandchildren – Wayde, Alex, Austin, Miles and Stephanie.

In addition to personal Bible study, Peggy has been in weekly study through her church for six years…studying Psalms, Revelation, Ephesians, Romans and currently studying Luke. She has great love for Christ’s Bride, the church, worship and sacred music. Her happiest moments are singing songs to the Lord. Peggy’s heritage of faith and the love of faith music are gifts from her parents, Pastor Nolan and Ruby Watson and the many faithful saints in the various churches Nolan pastored. Throughout adulthood, her spiritual journey has flourished by the teaching and fellowship of dear friends in the faith, the most precious of whom are connected with Christ Centered Retreats, Inc.

Eunice DeSiato, Founding Director

Cheryl Blalock

Eunice DeSiato - In 1985, I took a bold step to move from Minnesota to Texas sight unseen. I was hired over the phone for a teaching position in Raymondville, Texas. For the first time in my life, I experienced real heat, (over 90 degrees at 9 pm night after night), cock roaches, and a classroom full of students that at most were reading on a first-grade level. Even with these setbacks, I came to love teaching children who struggled with learning. But 3 years later, as circumstances got better, I got that nagging feeling for change. I applied and secured a position at San Benito Junior High as a computer literacy teacher. It surprised me how well I got along with this age level and how fun Junior High students could be.
Unfortunately, I still felt like I wasn’t “home”, so I started looking for teaching positions throughout the United States including different parts of Texas. I was hired to teach 5th grade in East Central ISD. Finally feeling at home in San Antonio, here is where I am today.
I spent the next 20 years with a one-year interruption, teaching in the East Central School District. During that time, I met my husband and helped him start Redeemer’s Hope Church which had its first worship service Christmas Eve, 1997. My main responsibility was organizing Children’s Sunday School and the Nursery.
One Sunday after church service early in 2001, Peggy Gonzales told me she had just started teaching a CEF after school Bible club at the elementary school where she taught. My response was, “ I want to do that”. This launched me into voluntary service with Child Evangelism Fellowship for the next 18 years.
In October of 2001, with the help of 5 other teachers, I began a God News Club at the school where I was teaching. I taught, led and supported Good News Clubs in my school for the next ten years. I also encouraged teachers from other elementary schools in our district to start clubs as well. From 2005 to 2011, I served as Co-Chairman for our local CEF Board. I became Board Chairman and served in that position from 2011 through 2013. Our local chapter needed a Treasurer, so I moved from being Chairman to being Treasurer. I served in this position for the next 2 years.
Since CEF is about bringing children to Christ through Good News Clubs, I once again had a strong urge to do the most important work of the ministry, teach children about Jesus, our Lord and Savior. Once again, I resigned as Treasurer and went back to teaching Good News Clubs which has been my joy right up to this present time.
I have also continued to teach Sunday School and have been the Children’s Ministry Leader/Facilitator at the Blue Jean in San Antonio for the past 4 ½ years.
I have been attending Women’s Retreats organized by Linda Pruski since her very first one, “Silver Boxes”. That was 20 years ago, and in all that time, I only missed one year. I have also presented lessons at a few of the Retreats and through it all, have learned a lot about myself and my walk as a Christian. A few years ago, Linda challenged a few of us ladies to start a non-profit organization, Christ Centered Retreats, for the purpose of hosting religious retreats for others. Linda has done most of the work herself and has been a major player in helping me to step out in faith. I presently serve as secretary for Christ Centered Retreats and pray I am a blessing to her as she has been for me.
Shortly, my life will be taking another turn. I will be leaving my home, San Antonio, and moving east to Tennessee. Hopefully it will feel as much like home as San Antonio has, and with God’s leading, I will somewhere somehow be ministering to others.
Born and raised in a small town in Texas, after high school I moved to San Antonio. I graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 1996. I have worked for UT Health San Antonio since 1997 and earned my graduate degree in 2008.
I love reading, gardening, camping, traveling, and spending time with my cat, Sweetie. I am a member of the Jane Austen Society of North America. I enjoy volunteering for the CCR, Animal Defense League, and the San Antonio Food Bank. I am a two time cancer survivor and through these difficult experiences, I have grown in my faith. I am thankful for His grace and for bringing peace and joy to my life.
